1.
How much does each registration cost?
Prices are currently based on the type of domain
you are registering in US dollars and per registration
per year.
pricing details
2.
Are there any additional charges beyond
the registration fee per year?
Absolutely not.. The registration fee is the only one.
You need not purchase any other services from
NICGRAB.com
3.
How can
this be so affordable?
With the opening of domain registrations to many
companies, and ICANN accrediting multiple registrars,
there is greater competition for the business of
registering and renewing your domain. More
competition results in pressure to provide the best
services at the lowest possible prices. You
benefit from this competition by being able to
register your domain at reduced fees.
Current policies put into place by ICANN and agreed to
by Network Solutions have opened up domain name
registration services to many companies.. Essentially,
by partnering with OpenSRS, NICGRAB.com is able to
offer these discounted domain registration services.
4.
What Top
Level Domain's will NICGRAB.com offer?
NICGRAB.com covers .com, .net, .org, .tv, .ca,
.uk, .biz and .info registrations.
5.
Is there
any limit to how many years can be pre-paid in advance
for a registration?
You can register and renew domain names for terms of
one to ten years.
6.
Who is
responsible for maintaining the NICGRAB.com databases?
Network Solutions Registry is still responsible for
maintaining the "A" Root server and the publication of
the relevant zone files. OpenSRS is responsible for
maintaining the Whois service for all registrations
made through NICGRAB.com.
7.
How does
OpenSRS deal with domain hijacking and other related
security issues?
OpenSRS authenticates all transactions between the
client and server, as well as between the registrant
and the OpenSRS client. We feel that the processes in
place to ensure that the verification of identities is
in most ways superior to the vast majority of
registrant identification and authentication
procedures in place today.
8.
Will
modifications and transfers be allowed ?
Yes. The client software is designed to allow for
complete transfers and modification of the domain
record.
9.
What is the dispute policy?
The ICANN Uniform Dispute Resolution Policy as found
at
http://www.icann.org/udrp/udrp.html.
10.
What methods of payment will be
accepted ?
Please see our
pricing
and payment information.
11.
If I
change my registrar to NICGRAB.com will I lose the
time I have paid for with another registrar?
No, any time you have paid for already will be
transferred. That means that if you have one
year and three months remaining on your current
registration and transfer your domain to NICGRAB.com
for registration purposes you will still have your one
year and three months. Should you choose to
purchase renewals for two additional years then you
would have three years and three months on your
current registration.
12.
Do I
have to host my domain with NICGRAB.com or have my web
site designed by NICGRAB.com?
No you are not required to use NICGRAB.com for any
other services
13
Now that I have a
domain name, what is next?
You will
need to determine what you want to do with the domain
name you just registered?. Did you register a
domain for investment purposes? or do you want to have
branded email, creat, modify and display web pages or
sell products over the internet?
If you
registered for investment purposes, then there is two
options,
-
Do
nothing, leave the domain in free parking or
-
Purchase a DNS forwarding service (see NicGrab's
DNSPlus service)

If you
registered to publish content or conduct e-commerence
on the World Wide Web you will need to host you web
site with a web hosting service (see What is web
hosting)
14
What is Web Hosting
Hosting a web site
allows the owner of a domain to publish the content of
that web site or e-commerence activities on the World
Wide Web. Additionally, web hosting hosting allows for
branded email. Branded as in this example
(anyone@yourdomain.com). Web hosting usually provides
a certain amount disk space and bandwidth for a
specific monthy, quarterly or annual fee. The
fees varies with each vendor and depends on how much
disk space, bandwidth and other services you would
require. For great deals and good service, check
out our hosting partners in the
Resource Center.
15
How long
does it take before my domain shows up in Whois
and DNS
Normally
it will take from 24 to 48 hours for your new domain
to show up in Whois Queries. Your domain
was made unavailable as soon as you registered them on
the OpenSRS system. OpenSRS updates it's Whois
servers in real time while the other registrars
(including Internic and Network Solutions) update
their's once every 24 hours.
If you
cannot wait and would like to see your domain
now, follow this link and insert your domain name.
http//www.opensrs.org/whois/index.shtml
Also,
if you were to change your Name Servers, you
would have to wait from 12 to 48 hours for your DNS to
resolve your domain to your new name server addresses.
